Top Vietnamese legislator meets with Sembcorp Group leader
VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man held a meeting on December 2 with Lee Ark Boon, CEO of Sembcorp Development and chairman of the Board of Directors of VSIP Group, as part of his official visit to Singapore.
In his address, the top Vietnamese legislator highly appreciated Sembcorp Group for investing in 18 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) projects across 13 provinces and cities, creating jobs for more than 300,000 workers in the nation. VSIP represents a typical example of the combination of modern infrastructure development coupled with effective foreign investment attraction.
The Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership is seeing strong development, especially in the fields of economics and trade, while political trust has been increasingly strengthened, NA Chairman Man said, adding that this is a bright spot in terms of the relationship between the two nations.
The NA leader affirmed that the nation always values the presence of Singaporean enterprises . He outlined his desire to continue co-operating alongside Sembcorp Group, with a particular focus on projects aimed at developing smart, modern, sustainable industrial park infrastructure and implementing clean energy projects.
Boon stated his honour at meeting NA Chairman Man and his delegation in the city-island state, respectfully announcing that Sembcorp has had 28 years of investment and operations in the Vietnamese market. VSIP is a symbol of success in co-operation between both sides, he emphasized.
As a group with many activities in Southeast Asia, Boon said that the State and Government of Vietnam have created favourable conditions for enterprises to invest and conduct business; as well as being committed to continuing to invest heavily in VSIP, as well as projects in other provinces and cities, focusing on investing in green and high-tech projects.

Welcoming the group's plan to expand investment and develop low-carbon and high-tech industrial park models in the nation, the Vietnamese NA leader said that this activity aims to meet the requirements of adapting to the country’s growth model of transformation based on high-value-added and sustainable industries.
The Group's investment expansion in the nation is in line with both side’s policies. Vietnam pledges to always support, remove difficulties and obstacles, and offer optimal conditions for foreign investors to develop together, all whilst contributing to the overall development of the Vietnamese economy, NA Chairman Man told his host.
He said the Vietnamese NA always hailed the presence of Singaporean businesses and will create favourable procedural and legal conditions for them to invest and develop in the nation.
He also said that recently the NA has adopted draft laws, amending regulations on land, real estate business, investment, finance, and budget in an effort to remove bottlenecks and create a favourable environment for foreign investment attraction.
