Top Vietnamese legislator hails co-operation plan with Japan's Nara prefecture
VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a meeting with Yamashita Makoto, Governor of Nara prefecture and local leaders on December 4 morning (local time) in Tokyo as part of his ongoing visit to Japan.
The Vietnamese NA leader congratulated the Governor on signing a cooperation agreement with Thua Thien-Hue province, on the occasion of Hue city being recognized as one of the six centrally-run cities, saying that the signing of the cooperation agreement will create opportunities for the two localities to exchange and learn experience in the socio-economic development process and other fields.
Man hailed the cooperation plan between Nara prefecture and Vietnamese localities aimed at promoting trade investment, tourism and labor cooperation, therefore, the two sides have plenty of opportunities to exchange experience, especially in the field of tourism, which is considered the strength of Thua Thien-Hue province with famous historical and cultural relics.
On this occasion, he thanked Nara provincial leaders for their attention and support for 4,000 Vietnamese people studying, working and living in the locality, and highly appreciated the promotion of cooperation in human resource training in areas where Nara province has strengths with Vietnamese localities.
For his part, Governor Yamashita Makoto expressed his delight that NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man witnessed the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between Nara and Thua Thien-Hue province, while affirming that the two localities will coordinate to organize the 14th East Asia Local and Regional Government Congress 2025 and both sides will continue to sign memorandums of understanding on specific co-operation areas of shared concern.
There are currently 4,000 Vietnamese people working in the manufacturing, nursing and medical sectors in Nara, making it the largest foreign community in the prefecture, Makoto said, adding that the locality has received many students from Ho Chi Minh City to work at companies and businesses in Nara.
In the coming time, Nara prefecture hopes to receive more workers from Thua Thien-Hue province coming to Nara to work, the Governor said and voiced his hope that the Vietnamese NA will continue to pay attention to offering conditions for the implementation of cooperation programs between the two localities in the future.
Located in the Kinki region (central Japan), Nara prefecture is the ancient capital and the first capital of Japan established more than 1,300 years ago, with a population of about 1.3 million and a GDP of roughly US$25 billion.
Nara prefecture has strengths in the fields of electronic equipment, industrial machinery, food, tourism, and healthcare. It currently has cooperative relations with Hanoi, Phu Tho province, and Thua Thien – Hue province of Vietnam.
