Top legislator Tran Thanh Man begins official visit to Japan

VOV.VN - A high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by top legislator Tran Thanh Man arrived in Tokyo on December 3 evening, beginning an official visit to Japan at the invitation of Sekiguchi Masakazu, President of Japan’s House of Councillors.

Man and his entourage were welcomed at Haneda International Airport by Makino Takao, member of the House of Councillors, along with officials from the House committees.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Phm Quang Hieu, embassy staff, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan were present at the airport.

Vietnam-Japan relations have developed significantly and are now at their best, characterized by a high level of political trust. Frequent and close exchanges of delegations, especially at high levels, take place through all channels, including the Party, State, and National Assembly.

Economic cooperation is a major pillar in bilateral relations, while local cooperation, cultural exchanges, people-to-people connections, and human resources cooperation have become increasingly close and effective.

The Vietnamese community in Japan, numbering nearly 600,000, is the second largest foreign community in Japan. Along with the Japanese business community in Vietnam, which consists of nearly 2,500 members, they serve as important bridges of friendship, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of both countries.

The relationship between the two parliaments is developing strongly and comprehensively. Cooperation and exchanges between the two legislative bodies and their lawmakers, especially among younger parliamentarians, are becoming closer.

During the December 3-7 visit to Japan, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is schooled to have meetings and talks with senior leaders, including talks with the heads of both houses; a meeting with the Prime Minister, and a courtesy call on the Emperor and Empress. He will sign a cooperation agreement between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the house of Councillors.

In addition, Man will also have meetings with leaders of political parties and then visit Nagasaki Prefecture.
