Top legislator meets Qatar’s Shura Council speaker

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Speaker of the Advisory (Shura) Council of the State of Qatar Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud on April 8 on the fringes of the ongoing 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Doha.

The top Vietnamese legislator congratulated Qatar on hosting the Assembly, while showing her confidence that the Qatari Council will successfully organize the event as a contribution to raising the country’s role at the world’s largest multi-lateral parliamentary organisation.

Ngan also highlighted the growing ties between Vietnam and Qatar across a variety of fields, citing direct air routes connecting Doha with Hanoi, Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh City – the three largest cities in the three regions of Vietnam.

She said Vietnam highly values its ties with Qatar and suggested both sides maintain cooperation in a wide range of fields and boost trade in the fields of their strength.

The Shura Council speaker congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development and international integration achievements. He also assured his nation's readiness to support Vietnam if it has demand.

At the meeting, the two sides shared experience in parliamentary activities and law making.
