In recent days, many localities across the country have been severely affected by heavy rainfall, rising floods, landslides, and disrupted transportation, resulting in significant damage to both lives and property. In many areas, people have had to evacuate at night, with homes being swept away, livelihoods disrupted, and daily life completely upended. The situation is particularly severe in the central localities from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, where the floods and landslides continue to threaten the safety of locals.

The top leader shared that while working abroad, he has been closely following the situation with deep concern and worry.

In his letter, he sent heartfelt condolences and most profound sympathies to all those affected by the recent natural disasters, to the families who have lost loved ones in the floods and landslides, and to those who are injured, still isolated, and struggling without electricity, clean water, or safe shelter.

General Secretary Lam also appreciated the prompt, dedicated, and courageous efforts of local authorities, rescue teams, and the people in responding to the disasters, while acknowledging that many have risked their lives to evacuate, deliver essentials, and offer aid to affected victims. He affirmed that this is the spirit of solidarity and the strength that defines Vietnam’s mettle.

The Party chief urged all authorities, especially in the disaster-stricken localities from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, to focus on protecting people’s lives, evacuating at-risk households, and ensuring no one is left without food, shelter, or medical care. Special attention should be given to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, and pregnant women.

He also requested that local forces quickly restore essential infrastructure, including transportation, electricity, and communications, while assessing damage and prioritising immediate aid for the most vulnerable.

Special attention should be paid to restoring schools, healthcare centres, and other critical public facilities so people can return to normal life, he said, stressing that all support must reach the right people at the right time.

“While the disaster may continue to evolve, it also highlights the deep solidarity and strength of our people. I firmly believe that with the swift response of the entire political system and the resilience and compassion of the Vietnamese people, those affected will recover, stabilise their lives, and resume production as soon as possible,” the General Secretary wrote.
