Top leader presents Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title to Military Region 3
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary, State President and Secretary of the Central Military Commission To Lam on April 10 presented the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title to Military Region 3 of the Ministry of National Defence at a ceremony in Hai Phong city, northern Vietnam.
Military Region 3, formerly known as War Zone 2 and War Zone 3, now covers Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh and Ninh Binh, with more than 400 communes, wards and special administrative units.
As a particularly important strategic area in terms of economy, defence and security, its armed forces have undergone 80 years of building, combat and development, from wartime periods to safeguarding the country in peacetime, consistently fulfilling their assigned tasks with distinction.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, To Lam presented the title and praised the remarkable contributions of the armed forces of Military Region 3.
He said the need to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, improve people’s living standards and achieve the two centennial strategic goals is of utmost urgency.
The top leader added that military and defence tasks are facing major and urgent challenges, calling on the region’s armed forces to thoroughly grasp the Party’s guidelines on military and defence, maintain a firm grasp of the situation and proactively advise on timely and appropriate responses.
He also urged Military Region 3 to continue building its forces and develop a lean, streamlined and strong organizational structure across both main units and local military agencies at two levels, while improving the quality of training and exercises.
He called for effectively performing the function of a working force, including taking part in building new-style rural areas and civilized urban areas, contributing to strong local political foundations.
