Top Cuban legislator visits Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi
VOV.VN - President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and President of the Council of State of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez and his entourage visited the Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi on October 5 as part of his official visit to Vietnam and the co-chairing of the second meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

At the museum, the Cuban leader and his delegation laid flowers at the monument dedicated to Cuban military experts who had supported Vietnam during the past struggles for national independence.
They were then briefed on key themes highlighting Vietnam’s struggles for independence and national construction throughout different historical periods.
Established on July 17, 1956, the Vietnam Military History Museum is one of six national-level museums and serves as the leading institution in the army museum system.
It serves as a cultural landmark that allows visitors to explore and interact with exhibits on the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national independence, thereby helping preserve and promote the heritage of the country’s military history and meeting the public’s growing demand for research, learning, and cultural appreciation.
Despite being separated by half the globe, Vietnam and Cuba share a long-standing, special bond of solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation, which has become a model in international relations. Initiated by national heroes Jose Marti, President Ho Chi Minh, and Leader Fidel Castro, and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both nations, the relationship has endured the test of time and remains steadfast today.
Over the past 65 years, the rare and exemplary friendship between Vietnam and Cuba has continued to grow stronger, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in both regions and beyond.
The ongoing visit to Vietnam by President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and President of the Council of State of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez holds great significance. It not only represents the annual high-level exchange between the two legislatures but also serves as an important political and diplomatic event, helping further strengthen the traditional, special friendship between the two countries.
A highlight of the visit is the second meeting of the Vietnam–Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, co-chaired by leaders of both legislatures. Though a relatively new mechanism, the committee has quickly proved its effectiveness and importance within the overall framework of the special Vietnam–Cuba relationship.
This mechanism reflects the strategic vision of the two national assemblies’ leaders, providing a structured and regular channel for direct exchanges between the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Cuba.
