Ties between public security ministry, JICA expected to grow

Minister of Public Security Gen. To Lam has expressed his belief that on the back of the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia, ties between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Japanese partners, especially the Japan International Cooperation Agency, will continue to grow.

During a reception in Hanoi on December 14 for Director General of JICA’s Southeast Asia and Pacific Department Hayakawa Yuho, Lam stressed that substantive and comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnamese ministry and JICA is making important contributions to the common development of ties between the two countries.

A firefighting, search and rescue mission project and another on the supply of patrol boats would help improve law enforcement capacity, and ensure social security and order, he added.

Lam said the ministry expects to receive JICA’s further support in training and improvement of law enforcement capacity for Vietnamese public security officers, and pledges to work closely with the Japanese agency to ensure the security and safety of its headquarters and staff living and working in Vietnam.

Vietnam is ready to cooperate with and offer all possible support to JICA as well as Japanese citizens living, studying, travelling and working in the country, he said.

Yuho, for his part, vowed to do his best to contribute to the relations between the Vietnamese ministry and JICA, and between the two nations.
