Streamlining Vietnam's apparatus a modernisation trend: Lao scholar

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam has successfully achieved the goal of making it a strong country with prosperous people and a democratic and civilised society.

Bounthong Chitmany, Politburo member, permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, and Vice President of Laos, emphasised that rectifying and strengthening a strong and pure Party, minimising negative phenomena among Party members, and continuously improving the organisational structure of the political system toward greater efficiency reflect the essence of a people-centered administrative system, fostering national development and proactive international cooperation. More importantly, they are key drivers that will enable Vietnam to maintain its momentum in the doi moi (renewal) process and achieve steady progress in the coming years.

He aid that under the leadership of the Party, Vietnam has successfully achieved the goal of making it a strong country with prosperous people and a democratic and civilised society, striving to realise the strategic goals of turning it into a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030 and a developed socialist country with high income by 2045.

This is a noble goal and a profound political responsibility of the CPV to transform the dreams of the Vietnamese people into reality, he stated.

He expressed his confidence that despite challenges, Vietnam under the leadership of the CPV will continue making firm strides toward its goals.

Anti-corruption fight

Dr. Daosavanh Kheuamixay, deputy director of the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, who has spent years living and studying in Vietnam, noted that since the CPV’s 13th National Congress, Vietnam has intensified its fight against corruption and other negative practices within the Party.

He pointed out that even high-ranking officials are held accountable and subject to public disciplinary measures if they violate Party regulations or state laws. This, he emphasised, is a critical factor in strengthening the CPV’s prestige and reinforcing public trust.

Dr. Kheuamixay explained that Vietnam’s anti-corruption drive is part of a broader initiative to ensure a clean and strong Party. Besides, the CPV has demonstrated strong determination in restructuring and streamlining the state apparatus, thereby enhancing its efficiency.

He stressed that reorganising and streamlining the state apparatus aligns with global modernisation trends and expressed his confidence in the CPV’s ability to carry out these reforms successfully.

Amid an increasingly complex global landscape and heightened geopolitical competition among major powers, developing nations like Vietnam will face significant challenges. However, he firmly believed that under the CPV’s sound leadership, combined with the oversight of the National Assembly and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, strong political will, national unity, and determined efforts, Vietnam will succeed in the work.

This will contribute to building a cleaner, stronger, and more efficient political system that truly serves the people, paving the way for a new era of sustainable development and prosperity, he concluded.
