At the ceremony, authorized by the State President, Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Office, announced the decision to promote Trinh Van Quyet, Party Central Committee member and Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

Promotions from Lieutenant General to Senior Lieutenant General were conferred on Central Committee members and Deputy Ministers of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai, Nguyen Van Hien, and Nguyen Truong Thang, as well as Deputy Chief of the General Staff Nguyen Quang Ngoc. The rank of Senior Lieutenant General was also conferred on Deputy Ministers of Public Security Pham The Tung and Nguyen Ngoc Lam.

Presenting the promotion decisions and delivering remarks at the ceremony, the Vietnamese State leader extended congratulations to the officers and affirmed that the promotions show the high recognition by the Party, State and people for their contributions to national defence and development.

The President emphasized that those promoted are outstanding members of the Party, the State and the armed forces. They have undergone comprehensive, systematic training and risen through the ranks from the grassroots level, having been tested and proven in various positions, fields and work environments.

In all circumstances, these officers have consistently demonstrated firm political will, exemplary revolutionary ethics, dedication and responsibility in the cause of building and safeguarding the country, as well as maintaining political security and social order.

President Luong Cuong noted that in the coming period, global and regional developments are anticipated to remain complex and unpredictable. He urged the officers to carry forward the proud traditions of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army and People’s Public Security Forces, uphold revolutionary ethics, maintain absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, and remain united and closely connected with their comrades and the people.

On behalf of the newly promoted officers, General Trinh Van Quyet expressed his honor at receiving the promotion decision from the State President on behalf of the Party and State leaders
