During the resistance war against American imperialism, Binh Phuoc was a strategic stronghold of the revolutionary movement. It served as a key storage area, transit hub, and gathering point for human and material resources transported along the Ho Chi Minh Trail to support the southern battlefield. This was the place where the US and the southern puppet regime also established “steel belts” to defend Saigon from a distance.

Historic locations such as Bu Dop, Loc Ninh, Tau O, Xom Ruong, Route 14, Phuoc Long, Dong Xoai, and Bu Dang became legendary battlefields, contributing to the country’s nation's glorious history in its prolonged struggle for independence.

In particular, the victory at An Loc on March 23, 1975, rapidly changed the battlefield dynamics, marking a turning point in the war and significantly contributing to the ultimate success of the Spring 1975 Offensive, which led to the complete liberation of the South and national reunification.

Once a war-ravaged land, Binh Phuoc has transformed into a province with a thriving economy and an improving quality of life for its residents. By 2024, its economy had exceeded VND115 trillion—92 times larger than in 1997 when the province was re-established. The average GRDP growth rate from 2021 to 2025 reached 9.4%, significantly higher than the national average. The per capita income surpassed VND108 million, while socio-economic infrastructure was modernized and expanded.

The province has maintained political stability, ensured national defense and security, and upheld social order and safety. These achievements lay the foundation for Binh Phuoc to become a modern, efficient, and sustainable industrial province by 2030, positioning itself as an attractive investment destination in Southeast Vietnam.

At the ceremony, President Luong Cuong presented the Labour Order, First-Class, to Binh Phuoc province in recognition of its contributions to national development.

He spoke highly of the province’s outstanding achievements recorded over the years, and emphasized that Binh Phuoc has not only emerged as a bright spot in socio-economic development but also stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit and aspiration for progress of a once war-torn land.

He highlighted that today’s peace, unity, and growth were built on the sacrifices and dedication of previous generations, serving as a driving force for local people to continue striving for prosperity and modernization.

Marking the 50th anniversary of Binh Phuoc’s liberation, the President said, is the chance for the people to honour fallen heroes, veterans, and all those who contributed to national independence. He urged every Vietnamese citizen to recognize their role in the country’s ongoing renewal and development.

He also encouraged Binh Phuoc to harness its heroic traditions, intelligence, resilience, and unity to advance alongside the nation into a new era of growth, strength, and prosperity.
