SOM 3 to continue with APEC cooperation issues
The third APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting and related meetings (SOM 3), slated for August 18-30 in HCM City, will continue accelerating the implementation of cooperation contents of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), said the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.
There will be 75 meetings of four committees, 38 working groups and sub-groups during the 13-day event, she said.
The first Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Senior Officials’ Meeting and related meetings (SOM-1) took place in the central coastal city of Nha Trang from February 18-March 3.
The event attracted more than 1,900 delegates from 21 member economies, representatives from the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, the APEC Business Advisory Council, regional and global organisations, and businesses.
It was the first plenary meeting of APEC in 2017 with nearly 60 sessions, seminars and dialogues of 38 APEC committees and working groups.
Meanwhile, SOM 2 was held in Hanoi from May 9-18 with nearly 50 meetings and workshops.
The event drew about 2,300 delegates from 21 member economies, the business community, scholars as well as representatives from international organisations and ministries and sectors of host Vietnam.
