Russia regarded as one of Vietnam’s top priority partners
VOV.VN - Vietnam always considers Russia one of the top priority partners in its external policy, said President To Lam at a June 17 reception in Hanoi for Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko.
The Vietnamese Party, State and people always bear in mind the wholehearted support provided by the Soviet and Russian people, both historically during the fight for national independence and reunification, and in ongoing national building and safeguarding.
The Vietnamese State leader hailed the positive development of traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia across all channels and areas, while showing his elation at the considerable increase in bilateral trade.
There remains huge potential for broader cooperation, especially in economy-trade-investment, infrastructure, transportation, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
Lam expressed confidence that existing bilateral mechanisms will ensure the continued growth of the comprehensive strategic partnership. He glowingly spoke of the close coordination and mutual support at international forums for the sake of peace, stability and development in the region and the world as a whole.
In reply, Bezdetko pledged his constant efforts and those of the embassy to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership. He laid stress on specific areas of interest for fostering bilateral ties, including economy-trade, national defence-security, education-training, sci-tech, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
Both sides agreed on close coordination for thorough preparations by the two countries’ competent agencies for the forthcoming Vietnam visit by President Vladimir Putin as contribution to further reinforcing solidarity, traditional friendship, and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
