Quang Ngai enhances partnership with Chinese locality

VOV.VN - The Department of Foreign Affairs of the central province of Quang Ngai and the northern Chinese province of Hebei organized an online conference on June 20 as part of efforts to discuss a score of measures aimed at strengthening their bilateral partnership.

Briefing the Chinese side on the local socio-economic situation, representatives of Quang Ngai outlined that the southcentral coastal locality has a significant strategic location in terms of Vietnam’s central key economic region and the East-West corridor. Indeed, it serves as a gateway to the sea with the international maritime routes through the East Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

Last year saw Quang Ngai’s GRDP scale hit VND121.66 trillion, equal to US$5.17 billion, duly ranking 18th out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide and second among localities in the central key economic region. Its transport infrastructure has continued to be revamped with a system of roads, waterways, railways, and airports.

At the event, Quang Ngai representatives proposed that both sides co-operate in developing high-tech industries and spearhead industries such as steel, pottery, electricity, garments and textiles, oil and gas, port, automobile and pharmaceuticals, as well as logistics and supporting industries.

They also showed interest at the prospect of collaborating with the Chinese locality in terms of culture and tourism, including the organisation of joint tourism promotion activities, festivals, cultural and art troupe exchanges, while opening tours between the two sides.

Furthermore, Hebei representatives said the Chinese locality is ready to promote the relationship between the two administrations, thereby promoting practical partnership in terms of economics, trade, culture, education, and friendship exchanges.

Hebei is also willing to strengthen bilateral ties in trade and culture, said the representatives, expressing their hope that travel firms of the two sides will foster further collaboration to encourage their people to tour each other’s locality.
