President Luong Cuong hosts Jordanian House Speaker in Hanoi

VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong hosted a reception in Hanoi on February 3 for Mazen Turki El Qadi, Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam from February 2 to 5.

The Vietnamese State leader welcomed the visit, which comes as Vietnam has just successfully concluded the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, an event of particular significance that opens a new period of development for the country.

Recalling positive impressions from the historic visit to Vietnam by King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, the Vietnamese State leader said the House Speaker’s visit would help sustain momentum in bilateral relations. On this occasion, he conveyed his warm regards to the Jordanian King.

Noting the positive progress in Vietnam-Jordan ties in recent years, especially following the King’s visit, President Luong Cuong affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam consistently seek to consolidate and enhance the effectiveness of friendly and cooperative ties with Jordan.

He congratulated the successful talks between the Jordanian House Speaker and Tran Thanh Man, laying stress on the important role of the two legislatures in building a sound legal framework for bilateral relations.

Thanking President Luong Cuong for receiving the delegation, Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi congratulated Vietnam on its recent achievements and respectfully conveyed New Year greetings and regards from King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to the President and senior Vietnamese leaders.

He said Jordan, and the King personally, highly value Vietnam’s role, standing and balanced stance on dealing with regional and international issues.

On bilateral relations, the two leaders agreed that Vietnam and Jordan still have considerable room for cooperation, based on political trust, shared historical experiences, common values of peace, and development aspirations.

To further promote friendly and cooperative ties, both sides consented to continue strengthening political and diplomatic relations through the exchange of delegations at all levels, effective implementation of existing cooperation mechanisms, and consideration of new frameworks of cooperation.

Regarding defence and security, the two leaders agreed on the need to further translate agreed cooperation opportunities into concrete outcomes, step up contacts and exchanges of experience, and ramp up cooperation in areas where each side has strengths.

The two sides set out directions for cooperation across the economy, trade, tourism, healthcare, education, Halal industry development and people-to-people exchanges.

President Luong Cuong reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent stance in upholding multilateralism, opposing the use or threat of force in international relations, and resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

Both sides concurred to further enhance their role as responsible members of the international community and to coordinate closely in mediation efforts and in tackling regional and international issues, for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries and for peace, cooperation and development in their respective regions.
