President-elect of RoK to hold phone talks with Vietnamese State leader
VOV.VN - Kim Eun-hye, spokeswoman for President-elect of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol, announced that on March 23 the new Korean leader will hold a phone discussion with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to seek ways to deepen the bilateral relationship.
Speaking to the media, Eun-hye affirmed that Vietnam boasts a friendly relationship with the RoK and has maintained a trusted partnership, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and disruptions caused to the global supply chain.
This year will see the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, with the RoK-Vietnam bilateral relationship being upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Eun-hye also underscored the importance of the country as part of the RoK’s partnership with ASEAN, particularly as Vietnam plays the role of co-ordinator.
President Phuc will be the sixth foreign leader to talk by phone with Yoon Suk-yeol since he was elected as President of the RoK on March 10.
This comes after Yoon Suk-yeol conducted phone talks with US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
