PM urges inclusive digital transformation to fuel next growth phase
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that the digital economy must become a key growth driver, while a digital society should serve as the foundation for inclusive and human-centred development, ensuring that no one is left behind.
He underlined that digital transformation is essential for achieving Vietnam’s ambition of double-digit GDP growth during the 2026–2030 period.
Speaking at the 3rd National Forum on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development in Hanoi on December 20, Prime Minister Chinh emphasised that digital economy development is critical to transforming the growth model, restructuring the economy, and enhancing productivity and competitiveness.
At the same time, he said, building a digital society aims to improve quality of life, ensure equal access to services, narrow development gaps, and promote Vietnam’s cultural identity in the digital environment.
The digital economy is the driving force, the digital society is the foundation, and people are at the centre, the Prime Minister stated.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for a candid and data-driven assessment of Vietnam’s digital economy and digital society, urging participants to clearly identify where the country stands in the global technology value chain. He stressed the need to define breakthrough solutions and strategic directions for the coming years rather than limiting discussions to reviews and evaluations.
The Prime Minister also urged policymakers and stakeholders to address institutional bottlenecks and policy barriers, particularly those related to cross-border digital services, intellectual property protection, data connectivity and sharing, and cybersecurity. He highlighted the importance of special mechanisms and policies to position Vietnam as a cradle for innovation, startups, and emerging technologies.
In addition, the Government leader emphasised the need to mobilise and efficiently utilize all available resources, including public investment, private capital, foreign direct investment, and public–private partnerships, to accelerate digital transformation across all sectors, from agriculture, industry, construction, services, to environmental management, and disaster and disease prevention.
He also called for the development of a digital economy and digital society roadmap tailored to Vietnam’s specific conditions, enabling the country to move in step with, catch up to, and ultimately surpass others in the digital era, while building a civilized, inclusive digital society.
