PM Phuc to attend G20 Summit, visit Japan
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the G20 Summit and make a visit to Japan from June 27 to July 1 at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
The G20 Summit will be held in Japan’s Osaka city on June 28-29.
PM Phuc’s participation in G20 affirms Vietnam's policy of proactive international integration, demonstrating the international community's recognition of the country's prestige and position - a reliable and responsible partner for the sake of peace, security and development in the region.
The Vietnamese government leader is due to give a speech at a plenary session, sharing Vietnam's vision, cooperation ideas and efforts in dealing with global economic issues for a green planet and a world of peace and prosperity and common development.
During the summit, PM Phuc will also have bilateral meetings with leaders from a number of participating countries.
Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic ties on September 21, 1973. Japan is currently Vietnam’s second largest foreign investor, third major partner in tourism, and fourth leading trade partner, while two-way trade values reached close to US$40 billion in 2018.
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc's visit to Japan takes place at a time when extensive Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership has grown across a variety of fields. Both sides have worked hand in hand on many international and regional issues.
This trip aims to further promote the strategic partnership between both nations as well as their coordination at regional and international forums.
