PM Phuc begins official visit to Cambodia

VOV.VN - On April 24 Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Phnom Penh for a two-day official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen.

He was welcomed at Pochentong International Airport by Cambodian Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Park Nguon Hong, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Thach Du.

The same day, Prime Minister Phuc met Cambodian King Norodom Shihamoni, overseas Vietnamese and Vietnam Embassy staff in Cambodia.

Vietnam currently has 190 investment projects totally capitalized at US$ 2.89 billion in Cambodia, focusing on agriculture and forestry. Cambodia’s investment in Vietnam has also been on the rise, with 18 projects worth US$58.125 million at present.

Bilateral trade exceeded US$2.9 billion in 2016 and is estimated at US$ 936 million in the first quarter of 2017, a year-on-year increase of 11.6%.
The Cambodia visit by the Vietnamese government leader is also an important diplomatic activity in the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017.
