PM Chinh named as National Defence and Security Council Vice President

VOV.VN - Lawmakers voted to adopt a resolution passing State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s proposal on the appointment of Vice President and members of the National Defence and Security Council on July 28 during the 15th legislature’s first session.

Under the resolution, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assumes the post as Vice President of the council, while NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Minister of Public Security To Lam, Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son are its members.

This resolution becomes effective from the date of approval by the National Assembly.

Earlier President Phuc submitted to the NA a list of candidates to be elected as Vice President and members of the National Defence and Security Council.

Legislators later approved the proposal on the list by a secret ballot.

The same day, the NA also passed a resolution adopting the Prime Minister’s proposal on the reappointment of Pham Binh Minh, Le Minh Khai, Vu Duc Dam and Le Van Thanh as Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 tenure.

All 479 NA deputies present at the 15th legislature's session, equivalent to 95.99% of the total voted in favour of the resolution.

The first session of the 15th NA concluded the same day after 9 days sitting, 8 days shorter than the original plan due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
