PM Chinh meets Party General Secretary, President, and NA Chairman of Laos
VOV.VN - PM Pham Minh Chinh on January 11 made a courtesy call on General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith as part of activities during his official visit to Laos.
Welcoming the first official visit to Laos by Chinh as the Government leader of Vietnam, the host leader greatly valued the two Governments’ efforts to continue developing bilateral cooperation in a substantive and effective manner.
He expressed his confidence that important outcomes obtained during the trip will help both sides successfully carry out the Vietnam-Laos cooperation strategy for 2021 - 2030, the agreement on bilateral cooperation for 2021 - 2025, and agreements between the two Governments.
In response, PM Chinh affirmed Vietnam always treasures and gives the top priority to the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, and considers these as priceless assets holding strategic importance to the countries’ revolutions.
He noted the two sides consented to work together to effectively implement high-level agreements; keep bringing into play the traditional cooperation and mutual trust in terms of politics, defence, and security; and continually improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation between Party commissions, ministries, sectors, agencies, and organizations of Vietnam and Laos.
They will also push ahead with economic, trade, and investment ties, assist each other to build independent and self-reliant economies that extensively and effectively integrate into the world, and and stay steadfast in the path to socialism.
During the meeting, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith also shared the view that the two sides should actively make use of the results of the Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022 so as to step up communications about the special relations, especially among both nations’ young people.
The same day, PM Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane in Vientiane, during which Saysomphone Phomvihane welcomed and highly appreciated the first official visit to the Lao as the head of the Vietnamese Government by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. He said the trip shows the Vietnamese Party and State' attention to the special relationship between the two nations.
The top Lao legislator hailed the great and comprehensive achievements the Vietnamese people have recorded over the past time, especially the nation's efforts in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, reopening all activities, and promoting socio-economic recovery and development.
He also conveyed his greetings to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
The Vietnamese Government chief conveyed the greetings from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Saysomphone Phomvihane and his mother who is the wife of late President Kaysone Phomvihane.
PM Chinh congratulated the Lao Party, State and people on their great and significant achievements they have obtained in the cause of national construction and development.
He said he believes that Laos will overcome the current difficult period, successfully implement the Resolution adopted at the 11th National Party Congress and the 9th Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period. Chinh also congratulated Laos on successfully organizing the 4th session of the 9th National Assembly.
The Vietnamese Government leader also highly appreciated the results achieved during the official visit to Vietnam by the Lao NA Chairman in 2021, thus helping to strengthen the sound cooperative relationship between the two legislatures as a way of contributing to the success of the Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Year of Friendship and Solidarity 2022.
The two leaders affirmed that they attach great importance to and give the highest priority to consolidating and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
They noted with pleasure to see that despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bilateral cooperation continued to maintain its development momentum across multiple fields, in which the legislatures of the two countries maintained the organization of high-level meetings, and seminars, shared professional experience, and increased coordination and mutual support at regional and international parliamentary forums.
The Lao NA Chairman applauded the good results of the official visit to Laos in May 2022 by NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
He expressed his wish to constantly tighten the close cooperative ties between the two legislatures, including the effective coordination and implementation of joint monitoring activities to contribute to the effective implementation of cooperation documents and high-level agreement between the two countries.
The top Lao legislator suggested continuing to strengthen the exchange and sharing of professional experience, organizing conferences, and seminars to exchange experience, and continuing to closely coordinate and support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF).
He also thanked Vietnam for its great support for his nation in recent years, including the construction of the Lao National Assembly building, while emphasizing Laos' readiness to support, strengthen and further deepen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
