PM Chinh begins working visit to Switzerland for 55th WEF meeting

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, touched down at Zurich Airport on the night of January 20 (local time), commencing a working visit to Switzerland, during which the Government leader will attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos and engage in bilateral activities.

Welcoming the Prime Minister and his spouse at the airport were Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Phung The Long, Ambassador and Head of Vietnam's Permanent Mission to Geneva Mai Phan Dung, along with staff from the embassy and the Vietnamese mission in Geneva.

This year’s WEF Davos conference, themed “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age”, is a prominent event gathering approximately 3,000 leaders from countries, international organizations, and leading global corporations. It provides a platform for discussing development priorities and orientations, as well as exploring opportunities Vietnam offers to its partners.

The forum’s discussions will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on economic growth, the progression of industrialization, workforce development, enhancing worker capabilities in factories and enterprises, and restoring international trust.

While in Davos, PM Chinh will preside over and participate in numerous dialogues and discussions on key topics. These include a plenary session on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a national strategic dialogue between Vietnam and the WEF, and a special dialogue between the WEF and the Prime Minister.

He is also scheduled to chair seminars on various themes, such as trade and global development in the age of intelligence, high-tech investment in Vietnam, Vietnam’s position in the digital era, digital infrastructure, and green energy.

As part of his visit, PM Chinh will hold a bilateral meeting with Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter to discuss measures for strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing the partnership between the two nations. Additionally, he will meet with politicians, leaders from other nations, representatives of international organizations, businesses, and major global investors.

He is expected to deliver key messages regarding Vietnam’s determination, aspirations, and vision for achieving strategic development goals over the next 20 years.

This trip represents the first multilateral diplomatic activity of Vietnam’s high-ranking leaders in 2025, reaffirming the country’s role as a reliable partner and an active, responsible, and promising member of the international community.

The Prime Minister’s bilateral activities in Switzerland are anticipated to consolidate political trust and elevate the Vietnam-Switzerland relationship to a new level. His working visit, scheduled to run until January 23, is made at the invitation of WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab.
