PM begins official visit to Malaysia, attends 46th ASEAN summit
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, landed in Kuala Lumpur on May 24 night, beginning an official visit to Malaysia and attendance at the 46th ASEAN Summit and related high-level meetings from May 24 to 28 at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his spouse.

Those welcoming the delegation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport included Minister of National Unity Aaron Ago Dagang, Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato’ Tan Yang Thai, the Deputy Chief of Protocol from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, and liaison officers for the Prime Minister and his spouse.
On the Vietnamese side, attendees were Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh, Vietnamese Embassy staff, and Vietnamese community representatives in Malaysia.
During the trip, in addition to his official visit to Malaysia, the country holding the 2025 ASEAN Chair, PM Chinh will attend the 46th ASEAN Summit, the second ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and high-level meetings between ASEAN and China.

He will also engage in other important bilateral and multilateral meetings and attend various related forums and conferences. While in Malaysia, the Vietnamese Government chief is scheduled to hold talks with senior leaders of the host country, including the Prime Minister, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The two sides are expected to discuss major orientations and specific measures to implement the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia. The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of attaching great importance to relations with neighboring countries and ASEAN member states, including Malaysia.
Through these activities, Vietnam also expresses its support for Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN chairmanship in 2025 and reaffirms its commitment to building a “sustainable and inclusive” ASEAN Community, one that is united, resilient, and plays a central role in the regional architecture.
The working visit by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underscores Vietnam's proactive and active involvement in multilateral organizations, mechanisms, and forums as a contribution to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the wider world.
