Photo exhibition highlights history of Vietnam-Laos ties
VOV.VN- An exhibition is underway at Kaysone Phomvihane Museum in the Laotian capital of Vientiane, displaying photos, documents, objects, and books on ties between the nation and Laos, special solidarity, and the comprehensive friendship to mark the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022.
Those in attendance at the opening ceremony on July 17 was Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong. He has been on a visit to Laos to attend celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations, which began on September 5, 1962, and the 45th year since the singing of the bilateral Treaty of Amity and Cooperation on July 18, 1977.
Upon addressing the ceremony, Thongsalith Mangnomek, secretary and chief of the Office of the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, said this year is of special significance for both sides as the two countries will hold many milestone events. This includes the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
For the celebrations, the Offices of the CPV and LPRP Central Committees have selected a range of photos on bilateral activities between the Parties, States, and people for the exhibitions held at the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum in Vientiane and the Vietnam National Museum of History.
Mangnomek emphasised that, “Through the photos we can see the special solidarity relationship of the two parties, the two states and the two peoples. It is a priceless, one-of-a-kind asset. That sentiment is evidenced through the long history of the two peoples, constantly cultivated by the people of the two countries and increasingly developed.”
On show at the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum are more than 400 photos showcasing the history of relations from 1930 to 1975. This is in addition to highlighting the two countries’ solidarity and co-operation in their national protection and construction cause in the 1976 to 1986 period and in their reform process during the 1986 to 2022 period.
Within the framework of the working visit to Laos from July 17 to July 19, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong was joined by high-ranking Vietnamese and Laotian delegations to lay wreaths at the President Kaysone Phomvihane’s Monument.
