Peace policy helps to further develop Cambodia – Vietnam ties: PM Hun Sen

Speaking to more than 22,000 workers in Bavet city of Svay Rieng province, PM Sen asked, "There is a group of people who always think of waging war with a neighboring country, inciting discrimination just to get votes, is it worth supporting?”

PM Sen insisted that this action could endanger both stability and development.

According to information given by PM Sen, Cambodia's peace policy is in line with the Vietnamese side’s peace policy, thereby facilitating trade and investment activities.

Last year’s trade turnover between both nations exceeded US$10 billion, while the goods exported to the country were previously less than the quantity that the Vietnamese side imported from Cambodia.

The policy of peace seeks to develop the country across all fields, especially the border area which had been a battlefield in the past and has now become an economic, market, and development area.

Through these steps, the border area has developed with numerous factories, enterprises, and special economic zones, thereby attracting further investors.

This year has seen Svay Rieng province become home to 264 factories employing about 95,000 workers with an average salary of more than US$284 annually, of which there are 41 garment factories with a total workforce of nearly 40,000 people, with an average salary of nearly US$124 million per year.

The province thereby ranks sixth in terms of hosting the highest number of garment factories.
