Party Leader Trong arrives in Indonesia, starting state visit

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on August 22 arrived in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta where he was received by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo at Freedom Palace.

During the 3-day state visit, August 22-24, the two leaders will discuss maritime security, fishery, trade, investment and other regional issues, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Asia, Pacific and Africa affairs Director General Desra Percaya told reporters.

Additionally, the Vietnamese leader will meet with a large gathering of prominent Indonesian business leaders. He will also meet with several Indonesian top academics.

Party General Secretary Trong was greeted at the airport by representatives from the Vietnamese business community, Vietnam Ambassador Hoang Anh Tuan and staff,along with Head of the Vietnam Permanent Mission to ASEAN and Ambassador Nguyen Hoanh Nam.
