Party leader To Lam salutes Vietnamese troops from Red Square grandstand

VOV.VN - At the Victory Day parade on May 9 commemorating the defeat of fascism, the Vietnam People’s Army contingent marched past the grandstand in Red Square under the watchful gaze of Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse.

The marching formations entered Red Square one after another, led by commanding officers carrying unit flags. Vietnam was the sixth military contingent in the international segment of the parade.

General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, Ngo Phuong Ly, stood to salute the Vietnamese military delegation as they marched past the grandstand.

The May 9 parade not only marks the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, but also serves as a highlight in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia Vietnam’s dispatch of an official military delegation to the parade shows the deep mutual trust and close ties between the two countries.

The presence of General Secretary To Lam in Moscow on this occasion also underscores the importance Vietnam places on its bilateral relations with Russia. Amid global uncertainties, both nations’ continued affirmation of their traditional friendship and all-around cooperation holds strategic significance.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence selected officers, cadets, and professional soldiers with exemplary qualities, capabilities, health, and physique from the Army Officer Training School No.1 and other units to represent the Vietnam People’s Army at the Victory Day parade in Moscow’s Red Square.

Major General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Rector of the Army Officer Training School No.1 and head of the Vietnamese delegation to the parade in Russia, said the marching unit comprises 68 official members and 5 reserve members. These servicemen were chosen from among thousands of officers, lecturers, and cadets under the direction of the Minister of National Defence.

According to Major General Thanh, the participation of officers and cadets from the Army Officer Training School No.1 in this historic parade is a great honor, showing the spirit, willpower, and mettle of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. He emphasized that the event marked a meaningful milestone and provided further motivation for each member to continue striving and training.

“Upholding the spirit of the Vietnamese people, the entire contingent maintained unity and coordination, turning determination into steps that were precise, synchronized, strong, and dignified at Red Square, while enhancing the image of Vietnam, its people, and the strength of the Vietnam People’s Army and the heroic Vietnamese nation. This is a worthy reflection of the trust placed in us by the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defence,” Major General Thanh affirmed.
