Party leader to hold phone talks with US President
VOV.VN - Contact activities and high-level visits by leaders from Vietnam and the United States will be announced at an appropriate time, according to Le Thi Thu Hang, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Responding to reporters' questions during a routine press conference held on November 17 about phone talks between US President Joe Biden and Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, leading to a high-level visit between the two countries, the spokesperson said that such activities help to maintain high-level contact between the two nations. As a result, they continue to be carried out in flexible forms in person and online.
"During the past 27 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations, the relationship between Vietnam and the US has seen good developments across a variety of fields," the official said.
This comes after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and US President Joe Biden had a meeting November 12 within the framework of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related summits that took place in Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
As a result, in the immediate future the two sides will co-ordinate to prepare for the upcoming phone conversation between General Secretary Trong and US President Biden. This will be done whilst proceeding to carry out a high-level visit between the two sides at an appropriate time when conditions permit, Hang added.
