Party leader and his spouse leave Hanoi for Malaysia visit

VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam departed Hanoi on November 21 morning for a three-day official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his spouse.

The Party chief is accompanied by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Chairman of the PCC's Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac; Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Politburo member and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the PCC's Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the PCC's Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung; Member of the PCC, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Member of the PCC and National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong; along with several other members of the PCC, leaders of various ministries, agencies and localities.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on March 30, 1973, Vietnam - Malaysia relations have gone through a long journey of more than 50 years of construction and continuous development with an important milestone being the signing of the Joint Statement on the Strategic Partnership Framework by the two countries on August 7, 2015, even more special when Vietnam represents Malaysia's only strategic partner in ASEAN.

The upgrading of the strategic partnership in 2015, demonstrates the depth and breadth of the bilateral relationship and high political trust. It opens a new page for comprehensive cooperation across a variety of fields from politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, culture, defence-security, science-technology and sustainable development.

The friendly relations between the two countries have developed comprehensively and extensively in all pillars of Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and citizen diplomacy. In addition, both nations have been actively coordinating to effectively implement the Action Program to realize the strategic partnership for the 2021 - 2025 period, which will be an important premise to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the coming years.

The visit is viewed as a key milestone in Vietnam-Malaysia relations with a view to consolidating political trust between the two nations at a high level. It underscores Vietnam's unwavering policy of placing importance on and reinforcing relations with neighbouring and regional countries, including Malaysia.

On the basis of the increasingly strengthened political trust between Vietnam and Malaysia, this official visit to Malaysia by Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse and the high-ranking delegation is an opportunity for the leaders of the two countries to discuss international and regional issues of mutual concern, inform each other about the situation in each nation, consolidate political trust, enhance mutual understanding, thereby reaching agreements to elevate the Vietnam-Malaysia relationship to new heights.
