Party General Secretary To Lam arrives in Sofia for official visit to Bulgaria
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Sofia International Airport on the evening of October 22 (local time), marking the start of their official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of President Rumen Radev.

Those welcoming the Party leader and his spouse at the airport were Atanas Zafirov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria; Roussi Ivanov, Secretary for Foreign Affairs to the President; Mircho Ivanov, Director-General of the Presidential Protocol Department; Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet; and Vietnamese community representatives in Bulgaria.
As one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1950, Bulgaria has long maintained a friendship nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both nations. In August 1957, President Ho Chi Minh paid an official friendship visit to Bulgaria, laying the foundation for a strong and enduring partnership, marked by Bulgaria’s valuable material and spiritual support for Vietnam during its struggle for national liberation and defence.

The Vietnamese people have always remembered the image of thousands of Bulgarian students and citizens taking to the streets to protest against the war in Vietnam. Over the past 75 years, the two countries have shared a historical journey of companionship in the process of national construction and development, achieving fruitful cooperation across nearly all areas of their bilateral relations.
