Party chief welcomes SK Group’s deeper engagement in Vietnam

Party General Secretary To Lam hosted a reception on February 14 in Hanoi for Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
Welcoming the SK Group leader to Vietnam, the Vietnamese Party chief commended the group’s achievements in business and investment activities in the country. He also expressed appreciation for the goodwill and support that Chairman Chey and SK Group have extended to Vietnam.
Highlighting the robust development of Vietnam–Republic of Korea (RoK) relations across multiple fields, To Lam noted that the RoK remains one of Vietnam’s top partners in investment and trade. He emphasized the shared goal of reaching US$150 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 and acknowledged the valuable contributions of Korean enterprises, including SK Group, to Vietnam’s socio-economic growth.
He welcomed SK Group’s plans to launch new projects in Vietnam, which is in line with the country’s development priorities. He urged the group to work hand in hand with relevant agencies and localities to ensure the swift, practical, and effective implementation of these projects.
For his part, Chairman Chey Tae-won briefed the host leader on SK Group’s investment activities in Vietnam and its plans for expansion.
He hailed the group's global expertise in the energy sector and expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Vietnam in this field to promote sustainable economic development. SK Group aims to partner with Vietnamese stakeholders on energy solutions while advancing key industries, including LNG power infrastructure, AI data centers, hydrogen energy, small modular reactors (SMRs), high-tech agriculture, and logistics.
