Party chief: Officers, soldiers must deeply grasp “the people are the root"

VOV.VN - Every officer and soldier must thoroughly embrace the principle that “the people are the root,” always placing the interests of the nation and the people above all else, while setting a true example in political will, moral qualities, lifestyle, and professional conduct, Party General Secretary To Lam has emphasized.

A ceremony marking the 80th traditional day of the People's Public Security Force (August 19, 1945–2025) and the 20th All-People Security Safeguard Festival (August 19, 2005–2025), along with the conferment of the Golden Star Order for the fifth time, was held on August 17 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi.

The event was organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the Ministry of Public Security.

Before the ceremony, at 7:00 a.m., a delegation of current and former Party and State leaders, together with the Ministry of Public Security’s Central Party Committee, visited Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and offered incense and flowers at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, Hanoi, honoring the nation’s fallen heroes.

Over 80 years of construction, combat, and growth, under the Party’s absolute and direct leadership and with the people’s support, the Vietnam People’s Public Security Force has consistently served as a core pillar in safeguarding national security and maintaining social order and safety, acting as a “sharp sword” and a “steel shield” protecting the Party, the State, and the people.

In his article "80 Years – Glory of the Vietnam People's Public Security" Party General Secretary To Lam highlighted the force’s heroic history, glorious traditions, and immense achievements, which have contributed significantly to Vietnam’s heroic history, helping the revolution overcome challenges and secure successive victories.

The loyalty, sacrifices, and contributions of generations of public security officers have been recognized and honored by the Party, the State, and the people. These prestigious awards shine as a heroic anthem of revolutionary heroism, forged through devotion to the country, dedication to the people, pure revolutionary spirit, and courageous sacrifices in the struggle for national security and public peace, a source of enduring pride for the Party, the State, and the nation.

In an article highlighting heroic qualities and resolute spirit over 80 years of construction, combat, and growth of the People's Public Security Force, General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, emphasized that throughout eight decades, despite countless challenges, the force has remained steadfast, resilient, and undaunted. Officers have demonstrated vigilance, dedication, and readiness to sacrifice for the country, taking the Fatherland and people’s interests as their ideals, committing all strength, intelligence, and even lives to protect the Party, the State, the socialist regime, and the peaceful and happy life of the people.

Under the Party’s leadership, the entire Party, people, and army are united in implementing strategic directives, focusing on the “Four Pillars” – four Politburo Resolutions, to lead the country firmly into a new era of development and prosperity.

The Vietnam People’s Public Security Force pledges to uphold its heroic traditions and revolutionary essence, take the lead in patriotic emulation movements, pioneer the implementation of Party policies and State laws, maintain national security and social order, ensure a stable and peaceful environment, create favorable conditions for development, and contribute to building a wealthy, strong, democratic, just, and civilized Vietnam that stands shoulder to shoulder with the world’s powers, continuously enhancing its international standing.

In his speech, the Party leader emphasized that the event offers the Party, the State, and the people an occasion to express sincere appreciation for the immense contributions of the People’s Public Security Forces, and foster pride, determination, aspiration, and a strong sense of responsibility toward the Fatherland.

The 80-year period has demonstrated the mettle, intellect, and remarkable growth of the People’s Public Security Forces under the absolute, comprehensive, and direct leadership of the Party, the unified management of the State, and the support, protection, and assistance of the people, he continued.

Pointing to regional and global uncertainties, the Party chief underscored that the tasks of safeguarding the Fatherland early and from afar; defending national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; protecting the Party, the State, the people, and the socialist system; and ensuring national security and social order and safety place heavy yet honourable demands on the People’s Public Security Force.

He called for the swift building of People’s Public Security Forces that are truly “revolutionary, standardised, elite, and modern,” strong in politics, ideology, organisation, and ethics; proficient in professional skills, law, and technology; disciplined and orderly; possessing both steel-like mettle and warm hearts; always ready to “sacrifice for the nation and serve the people”; and proactive in carrying out its duties with a spirit of “pioneering” and “innovation.”

He asked the People’s Public Security Forces to take the lead in digital transformation; and optimise big data systems; ensure the security and safety of information networks; safeguard national digital sovereignty; and build new capacities and tools to prevent, detect, investigate, and handle cybercrime.

The Party leader also ordered stronger international cooperation in security and justice, information sharing, and coordinated action, while actively engaging in and contributing to the shaping of international rules and norms in non-traditional security areas.

He also underlined the need to better care for the material and spiritual well-being of officers and soldiers, and to improve their working conditions, with priority given to remote, border, island, and other difficult or complex areas.

In particular, the People’s Public Security force must continue to firmly combat and refute hostile and wrongful arguments; consolidate public trust, strengthen social consensus, maintain political stability and social order and safety, thereby creating a peaceful, secure, and healthy environment for rapid and sustainable development, the Party chief emphasized.

At the event, on behalf of the Party and State leadership, General Secretary Lam presented the People’s Public Security Force with the Gold Star Order for the fifth time, in recognition of their tremendous achievements over the years, and conferred a banner from the leader to the force.
