Party and State leader To Lam honoured with Order of the Elephant by King of Denmark
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam was presented with the Order of the Elephant by King Frederik X of Denmark on the morning of October 19, 2026 (local time), as part of his State visit to the Kingdom of Denmark.
The Order of the Elephant represents Denmark's highest distinction, bestowed upon members of the Royal Family and foreign heads of state.
Moved to receive the noble Royal distinction, Top leader To Lam expressed his desire to dedicate this great honor to the Vietnamese people, to generations of Vietnamese and Danish citizens who built the foundation of friendship over the past 55 years, and to those in both nations continuing the journey to bring bilateral ties into a new development era.
He emphasized that the Order presented by the King will serve as a constant reminder of the precious affection and friendship shown by the Danish Royal Family and people toward Vietnam, as well as the responsibility to inherit and promote the shared heritage built by generations of both countries.
The presentation of the Order of the Elephant by King Frederik X during the State visit by Vietnam’s top leader, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties (1971-2026), carries profound political and diplomatic significance.
It reflects high regard for To Lam personally and highlights the importance attached by the Danish Royal Family to relations with Vietnam.
Over 55 years of diplomatic ties, Vietnam and Denmark have built a strong friendship and cooperation framework, evolving from a traditional development partnership into a Comprehensive Partnership in 2013 and a Green Strategic Partnership in 2023.
The conferment of the Order of the Elephant during this visit honors that cooperative journey while strengthening the bond between both nations’ leaders and people.
