Top leader To Lam lays wreath at Monument for Denmark's International Effort Since 1948

VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, together with King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark, laid a wreath at the Monument for Denmark's International Effort Since 1948 inside the Kastellet fortress in Copenhagen on the morning of October 19, as part of his State visit to the Nordic nation.

The monument stands as a tribute from the Danish state and people to those who served and sacrificed in international missions since 1948. At the site, Top leader To Lam and King Frederik X inspected the guard of honor.

Following the solemn wreath-laying ceremony, Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, alongside King Frederik X and Queen Mary, observed a minute of silence in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during Denmark’s international missions.

In 2007, the Danish Government decided to erect the monument to honor the service and sacrifice of military personnel, police officers, and civilian officials deployed on international missions since 1948.

Inaugurated in 2011 and built primarily of granite, the monument serves as the venue for official commemorative and wreath-laying ceremonies by the Danish Royal Family, Government, and Armed Forces, while welcoming members of the public to pay respect to those dedicated to international peace, security, and humanitarian relief.
