Party and State leader meets Vietnamese intellectuals in US
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam had a meeting with Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston city on September 22 (local time) as part of his trip to the US to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), and hold working sessions in the country.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, General Secretary and President To Lam extended his best wishes and warmest regards to the Vietnamese people in the US.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese an inseparable part of the nation, and hailed the Vietnamese community in the US for their contributions to the country of residence as well as to the bilateral relations.
Lam applauded the dedication, vision, and tangible contributions of Vietnamese intellectuals to the homeland, and voiced his hope that they and their peers across the world will stay united and make greater contributions to the homeland.
On behalf of the Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston, Vu Van Le thanked the leader for his support and sentiments towards overseas Vietnamese, and affirmed that he and others pledge to contribute their knowledge and passion for a prosperous Vietnam.
He also called on the younger generation of Vietnamese intellectuals in the US and abroad to make more contributions to their homeland.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese intellectuals donated US$10,000 in support of localities that have just suffered great damage caused by typhoon Yagi.
