OVs in Malaysia promote national spirit, patriotism
The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia held a ceremony on August 21 to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
The event was attended by Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Speaker of the House of Representatives Johari bin Abdul. Deputy Speaker of the Senate Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed, senators, ambassadors from other countries, and nearly 500 guests including Vietnamese expatriates and international friends.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh highlighted the significance of the National Day and briefed the guests on Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development and international integration.
"Vietnam is focusing on green economic development and digital transformation, with an emphasis on renewable energy and climate change adaptation," he noted.
Reflecting on more than five decades of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Malaysia, Linh expressed his pleasure with the increasingly fruitful and effective cooperation between the two nations. Vietnam considers Malaysia a key partner within ASEAN, he said, underscoring the importance of their close cooperation for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
The diplomat expressed his belief that Malaysia will successfully fulfill its role as ASEAN Chair in 2025 and asserted that Vietnam fully supports Malaysia’s leadership and is ready to work closely with other ASEAN members and partners for a peaceful and prosperous Southeast Asia.
For his part, Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail noted that last year marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Vietnam.
He stressed that, as an ASEAN member, Malaysia views Vietnam as a close friend and is keen to collaborate with the country to create opportunities that benefit both nations.
On the occasion, the embassy showcased a film highlighting the land and people of Vietnam, featuring renowned sites from north to south such as Ha Long Bay - one of the new seven natural wonders of the world, terraced rice fields in the harvest season, and the ancient town of Hoi An.
