Overview of PM Phuc’s visits to Germany, Netherlands

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visits to Germany and the Netherlands July 5-11 helped promote Vietnam prestige on the international arena.

PM Phuc and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Frankfurt Airport on July 5, beginning his trip to Germany for a working visit and attendance at the G20 Summit at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

PM Phuc visited Vietnam Consulate General in Frankfurt.

PM Phuc met Rheinland-Pfalz state Deputy Minister-President and Minister for Economic Affairs, Transportation, Agriculture and Viniculture Volker Wissing and leaders of some German businesses like BoehringerIngelheim, BASF, and Hornbach.

PM Phuc left for Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz state late July 5 and met Minister-President of Rheinland-Pfalz state Malu Dreyer in Mainz city.

PM Phuc visited Hessen state and met Minister-President of Hessen state Volker Bouffier.

PM Phuc left Frankfurt for Berlin on the evening of July 5, where he met the Vietnamese Embassy staff and overseas Vietnamese people.

PM Phuc presided over a meeting with leading German businesses in information technology, finance, health care, agriculture, and hi-tech industry.

PM Phuc received Berlin Mayor Michael Muller and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Brigitte Zypries.

PM Phuc attended a Vietnam-Germany Business Forum in Berlin attended by an estimated 500 German and 100 Vietnamese companies.

PM Phuc left Berlin for Hamburg, where he held talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and some leaders of Germany businesses.

PM Phuc attended G20 summit.

On the sidelines of G20 summit, PM Phuc met the Republic of Korean President Moon Jae-in and Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull.

Later, PM Phuc had separate meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker, and Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

He met Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump.

PM Phuc and his delegation left Hamburg on July 8 for the Netherlands.

PM Phuc met Chairman of the Board of Austrian Vamed Group Ernst Wastler, and leaders of the Europe-ASEAN Business Alliance and the Netherlands-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce.

The PM cut the ribbon to inaugurate new headquarters of the embassy of Vietnam in The Hague, the Netherlands on July 9.

PM Phuc visited Wageningen University and Research Centre.

The PM attended Vietnam-Netherlands Business Forum in The Hague on July 10.

Later, the PM attended a business roundtable which focused on issues of smart city and airport city.

PM Phuc and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte held talks on the evening of July 10 after the welcome ceremony.

Following the talks, the two PMs and the WB Country Director for Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in food safety management.

PM Phuc worked with leading Dutch businesses in finance and energy.

At a meeting with Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, the PM asked the Mayor to encourage Rotterdam businesses to make their stronger presence in Vietnam and hoped the city will support the country’s central and Mekong Delta regions to prevent erosions, saltwater intrusion, and sea level rise.

The PM met President of the Senate Ankie Broekers-Knol and Speaker of the House of Representatives Khadija Arib of the Netherlands in The Hague on July 11.
