Outgoing Ambassador to Denmark praised for bringing green projects to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception on July 5 for outgoing Danish Ambassador Højlund Christensen, hailing the guest's contributions in bringing green projects to the country.

Ambassador Christensen showed his deep respect for Vietnam by urging Danish-based LEGO Group to invest in Binh Duong province, Deputy PM Minh said, adding that the aspect which makes the LEGO project special is that it will make use of clean energy which is in line with Vietnamese priorities.

He further noted that following LEGO, Danish renowned company Pandora also pledged to pour US$100 million into a jewelry-crafting facility which makes use of renewable energy at the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park 3 (VSIP3) in Binh Duong.

The Deputy PM anticipates that both projects will not only pave the way for a fresh wave of investment into those using renewables locally, but also help the country to attract value chain investors.

With his competency, experience, and passion, Ambassador Christensen played a significant part in expanding long-standing friendly relations and co-operation between the two peoples throughout his mission in the nation, the Deputy PM said.

He underlined the Danish Ambassador’s role in accelerating the effective implementation of the two countries’ joint Energy Partnership Programme from 2017 to 2022.

In response, the foreign diplomat expressed his affection for the Vietnamese nature and people during his four-year term in office.

He also thanked the Vietnamese Government for facilitating LEGO Group’s goal to develop its first carbon-neutral factory.

Most notably, Denmark was among the first in Europe to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam on November, 1975, whilst it was also the first North European country to lift bilateral ties with Vietnam to the level of a comprehensive partnership.

It has remained among the nation’s largest ODA providers for years, with projects primarily focusing on strengthening climate resilience.
