New bridge linking Vietnam, Cambodia opens today

VOV.VN - A new bridge linking Vietnam and Cambodia opened today (Apr. 24) with a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Cambodian counterpart Samdec Hun Sen.

The Long Binh-Chrey Thom Bridge, built over the Binh Di River, connects the provinces of An Giang in Vietnam with Cal Dal in Cambodia. It is 440 metres long and 13 metres wide and is designed to withstand speeds of 80km/h.

Speaking at the ribbon cutting, Prime Minister Sen stated the project would contribute to broadening bilateral economic trade, tourism and help lift living conditions for the peoples of the two countries.

For his part, Prime Minister Phuc shard Sen’s views noting the two countries shared the US$36 million costs of constructing the bridge, for which the opening was timed to coincide with their 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
