NA Vice Chairman visits Canada

One of the most pressing issues that Canada is interested in cooperating with Vietnam is in the sphere of climate change, said Mr Stanton, adding that empowering youth and women and maximizing their contribution to sustainable development are also top priorities.
Canada established diplomatic ties with Vietnam in 1973. It opened an Embassy in Hanoi in 1994 and a Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City three years later.
Last year, commercial trade between Canada and Vietnam was valued at over US$3.7 billion (CAD5 billion), thus making Vietnam the largest trading partner of Canada in ASEAN and its 16th-largest merchandise trading partner in the world.
