NA Chairman pushes for stronger Vietnam-France cooperation in economics, trade and tourism

VOV.VN - In addition to sound political and diplomatic ties and people-to-people exchanges, Vietnam and France need to further strengthen cooperation in economic, trade, investment and tourism.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on July 24 for French Ambassador Nicolas Warnery who came to bid farewell marking the end of his working term in Vietnam.

At the reception, the top Vietnamese legislator congratulated Ambassador Nicolas Warnery on successfully accomplishing his duties during his term of office.

On this occasion, Hue thanked France and the European community for their timely assistance to Vietnam in COVID-19 prevention and control, especially COVID-19 vaccines.

The two countries have worked hand in hand to launched a broad array of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic ties, he said, while appreciating the Vietnam-France local cooperation conference held in Hanoi over the past time as well as many cultural activities held in each country.

These important cooperation results between the two countries are attributable to the very important contributions of the Ambassador and staff of the French Embassy in Vietnam as well as the Ambassador and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in France, Hue went on to say.

The top Vietnamese legislator said that the two countries have had half a century of diplomatic cooperation and 10 years of strategic partnership and are preparing for a better future for the next half century in Vietnam-France relations.

Vietnam wishes to continue consolidating and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries across all Party, State, and parliamentary channels and people-to-people exchanges.

He urged the two sides to continue to boost coordination in speeding up the construction progress to soon put the Nhon-Hanoi Station urban railway line into operation, and accelerating the project on restoring and embellishing Long Bien bridge into a pedestrian bridge in Hanoi.

In response, French Ambassador Nicolas highlighted cultural cooperation as an important area of cooperation between the two countries, and stated that a number of events related to economic cooperation and research are set take place from now until the end of the year.

The French diplomat expressed his pleasure that the two nations’ relevant agencies have implemented a cooperation project on the Fair Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

In the near future the French-Vietnamese Friendship Parliamentary Group in the French Senate will visit Vietnam to step up cooperation between the two groups of parliamentarians as well as learn about Vietnamese land and people.
