NA Chairman calls for joint efforts to build peaceful, and prosperous future
VOV.VN - More than ever, as representatives of the people’s voice, parliaments must take the lead in promoting multilateralism and contributing to peace, justice, and prosperity for all.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man made this statement in his address at the general debate of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, held on the afternoon of July 29 (local time) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that the world is undergoing unprecedented upheavals. Armed conflicts, geopolitical rivalries, climate change, trade wars, economic inequality, and humanitarian crises are posing serious threats to global peace and stability.
He emphasized that these challenges transcend national borders, economic status, race, and religion, and therefore demand collective action from all.
According to the top Vietnamese legislator, parliamentary cooperation is not merely about sharing legislative experience or adopting resolutions. It is also a commitment to turning words into action, ideas into reality, and hopes into genuine opportunities for billions of people around the world.
“We, as representatives of the people’s will and aspirations, must ensure that policies and laws are grounded in the core values of peace, justice, and equality,” he stressed.
To realize these goals, Chairman Tran Thanh Man put forward several directions for enhancing parliamentary cooperation in the time ahead.
Accordingly, he called for strengthening dialogue and building trust. Parliaments should maintain regular forums to discuss global issues, from regional conflicts to transboundary challenges. Replacing confrontation with dialogue is the only way to build trust and foster mutually beneficial cooperation among nations and peoples.
He also laid stress on the need to promote justice and equality, stressing that priority should be given to policies that protect human rights, reduce inequality, and ensure that no one is left behind. Parliaments must intensify their oversight role to ensure that governments uphold their commitments to social justice.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man also underscored the importance of environmental action and sustainable development. Climate change, he noted, is an existential threat to the planet. Parliaments must take the lead in enacting legislation that promotes environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and support for communities vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Addressing the need to strengthen international inter-parliamentary cooperation, the Vietnamese NA leader affirmed that parliaments are not only legislative bodies but also bridges connecting peoples. By advancing parliamentary diplomacy, countries can work toward shared interests and help shape effective, practical solutions to global challenges.
He noted that as an active member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Vietnamese National Assembly remains strongly committed to multilateralism and parliamentary cooperation. He expressed his belief that peace, justice, and prosperity can only be achieved when all countries, large or small, respect international law, engage in equal cooperation, and place the interests of the people at the heart of their efforts.
Stressing that the conference offers an opportunity to reaffirm the vital role of parliaments in shaping a better world, Chairman Tran Thanh Man called on all parliaments around the globe to seek common ground, rise above differences, and work together to build a future where every person can live in peace, justice, and prosperity.
Before concluding his remarks, Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his unwavering belief in the power of international solidarity, multilateralism, and international law.
“By putting the interests of the people first, we can surely overcome all challenges. Let this conference be a meaningful milestone, marking the beginning of stronger commitments to cooperation and action, for a better world for future generations,” he said.
