Deepening Vietnam-China Cooperation
Welcoming the Chinese ambassador, Chairman Man expressed satisfaction with the flourishing Vietnam-China relations, which have achieved significant milestones following high-level visits. These include the December 2023 visit to Vietnam by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the August 2024 visit to China by Vietnamese State President To Lam.
Chairman Man reiterated Vietnam's prioritization of its traditional neighborly friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China, emphasizing this as a cornerstone of its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and multilateral engagement.
The top legislator highlighted the progress in relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC), as well as the active collaboration between their respective legislative bodies. He proposed organizing activities to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025 and invited Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, to visit Vietnam and co-chair the inaugural session of the bilateral parliamentary cooperation committee.
Chairman Man expressed optimism that Ambassador He Wei would help advance cooperation in key areas such as science and technology, digital innovation, education, cultural exchanges, and tourism, thus elevating Vietnam-China ties to new heights.
The Chinese diplomat conveyed warm regards from Zhao Leji and thanked Chairman Man for his sympathy following a recent earthquake in Tibet. The ambassador pledged to deepen cooperation between the NPC and the Vietnamese NA, emphasizing their legislative roles in supervising the implementation of major bilateral agreements.
Strengthening the Vietnam-Cuba special bond
In his meeting with Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Chairman Man expressed confidence that the new ambassador would facilitate the implementation of agreements signed between the two nations’ Parties and States.
Reflecting on the State visit to Cuba by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in September 2024, Chairman Man noted that the trip had elevated Vietnam-Cuba relations and opened new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, and energy.
Vietnam has provided tangible support to Cuba, including assistance in solar energy development, agriculture, and experience-sharing in science, education, and healthcare. Chairman Man expressed hope that 2025 would see enhanced exchanges and collaboration at all levels.
Ambassador Polanco Fuentes praised Vietnam’s contributions to Cuba’s food security and highlighted the adoption of Vietnam’s agricultural cooperation model, particularly in rice cultivation.
Both sides acknowledged the success of the first meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in 2024 and affirmed plans to hold the second meeting in Vietnam this year.
