Mozambican PM looks to expand all-round ties with Vietnam
VOV.VN - Mozambique values its relationship with Vietnam and wishes to expand cooperation into new areas such as mining, energy, telecommunications, digital transformation, and aquaculture, while continuing traditional areas of cooperation in health, education, and agriculture.

The statement was made by Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi during her meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin on July 10, during which she emphasized the special relationship between the two countries, affirming that Mozambique and Vietnam not only share common views and visions on many issues, but also have similar geographical, economic, and social characteristics and the ability to complement each other.
Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi, the second female PM in Mozambique’s history, expressed appreciation for the positive results of the bilateral solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the two countries.
For her part, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s congratulations to Maria Benvinda Levi on her appointment, and extended congratulations to Mozambique on the 50th anniversary of its Independence Day. The Ambassador also expressed her impression of the achievements made by the Mozambican Government in the first six months under the new Prime Minister’s leadership, especially in administrative reform and economic recovery.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (June 25, 1975 – June 25, 2025), the two sides agreed to step up cooperation in various areas. The Mozambican PM instructed relevant ministries and agencies to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy to effectively implement cooperation activities in the time ahead.
The same day, during a meeting with Mozambican Minister of National Defence Cristóvão Artur Chume, both sides consented to bolster defence cooperation, particularly in demining, war consequence remediation, disaster response, and the defence industry.
