President Quang’s trip to Egypt on August 25-28, 2018 was the first official visit by a head of the Vietnamese State since both nations established diplomatic ties in 1963. |
The visit was made after the trip to Vietnam by Egyptian President Fatah El Sisi in 2017 which witnessed a lot of remarkable achievements. During the visit, the two sides reaffirmed commitments reached in 2017 by senior leaders in the aim of actualizing new areas of cooperation. |
President Quang and his wife paid a State visit to Ethiopia on August 23-25, 2018 at the invitation of Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome. This was the first trip to Ethiopia by a head of the Vietnamese State since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1976. |
The visit to Ethiopia aimed to reaffirm Vietnam’s persistent pursuance of its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, and diversification of international relations. |
Vietnam has always placed importance on enhancing traditional friendship with African countries in general, and Ethiopia in particular. |
