Lawmakers to deliberate key personnel matters at extraordinary session this week

VOV.VN - The National Assembly (NA) is set to review and decide on key personnel issues, including the composition of the NA Standing Committee and the Government, during its 9th extraordinary session this week.

On February 17, lawmakers will discuss a draft resolution piloting policies to deal with challenges in science, technology, and innovation. They will also consider special mechanisms for the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project and a proposal for additional charter capital investment in Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) for the 2024-2026 period.

Lawmaker are expected to vote on amendments to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly and hold group discussions on the Government’s structure and the number of Cabinet members for the 15th tenure. A closed-door session will be convened to discuss urgent mechanisms for renovating, upgrading, and constructing the headquarters of the State President’s Office.

Personnel matters will be addressed on February 18, with votes scheduled on amendments to the Law on Government Organization, resolutions on the Government’s structure, and the number of Cabinet members for the 15th tenure.  NA deputies will also decide on resolutions regarding NA bodies and the composition of the NA Standing Committee, alongside another closed-door session on personnel affairs.

On February 19, the NA will vote on a resolution supplementing the 2025 socio-economic development plan, targeting an economic growth rate of at least 8%. It will also deliberate on an investment policy for the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway project.

Additionally, legislators will vote on resolutions piloting special policies for developing urban railway networks in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as policies to resolve challenges in science, technology, and innovation. Other key issues up for approval include special mechanisms for the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, to the revised Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents and the revised Law on Organization of Local Administrations, and regulations on restructuring the state apparatus.

According to the agenda, the 9th extraordinary session is scheduled to conclude by late February 19 morning.
