VOV.VN - The Pathet Lao newspaper of the Lao News Agency (KPL) recently published an article highlight the special solidarity, comprehensive co-operation, and close-knit ties between Vietnam and Laos.
The article marked 44 years since the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation back in 1977.
It stated that the friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation nurtured by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane, and consolidated by subsequent generations of leaders and people from both sides, has become a rare model and an invaluable asset of the two peoples.
At present, the nation represents one of the major economic and trading partners of Laos, as well as being the third largest investor in the neighbouring country, according to the article. Bilateral co-operation in national defence and security has also made progress, thereby helping to ensure political stability and social order and safety in both countries.
The article also applauded the close bilateral diplomatic ties, stating that the regular exchange of visits serves to demonstrate both sides’ strong determination to reinforce the relationship in line with the latest situation in each country, as well as in the region and across the world.
Furthermore, the two countries have also maintained the sharing of information and experience, which reflects their responsibility for preserving and enhancing bilateral ties, the article said.
It also commended the various achievements in cultural, educational, and scientific collaboration, along with co-operation between ministries, agencies, and localities of the two countries.
As ASEAN members, both sides have closely co-ordinated and provided mutual support to the bloc’s numerous activities.
Upon reviewing the official visit to Vietnam by Lao Party General Secretary and State President Thongloun Sisoulith which was held late last month, the article said this marks the first overseas trip by Thongloun Sisoulith after being elected as Lao Party General Secretary and State President.
The visit therefore re-affirmed the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation which exists. Indeed, this can be viewed as a model in international relations, along with being momentum and a decisive factor to the success of each nation’s revolution, the article said.
