Int'l experts criticize China’s act in East Sea

(VOV) -The international public has expressed their concern about China’s pilot flight to the airport that it illegally built on the Fiery Cross Reef, part of Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago.

Theresa Fallon from the European Institute for Asian studies (EIAS) said China’s acts causes escalating tension at the world’s hot spot. Ms Fallon said Beijing may continue to build islands, improve communication system, install long-range radar system and build houses for the staff.

China is also likely to deploy patrol ships and military aircraft to this area.

Ms. Fallon said in order to control China’s act, regional countries need to further attract the international community’s attention and promote international laws enforcement. The EU needs to send observers to the International Arbitration Court to support the solution to the conflict in the East Sea.

Professor Eric David, Director of the International Law Center at the Free University of Brussels, said China’s building of airport on the conflicted island is an act of showing sovereignty.

Related countries need to act by sending diplomatic note to protest China, saying that China has no right to build airports on the island which they themselves claimed sovereignty.

China needs to resolve sovereignty issue in a legal manner.
