Indian political parties keen to strengthen ties with Communist Party of Vietnam

Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai has recently had separate meetings with General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) D.Raja and Vijay Chauthaiwale, who is in charge of the Indian ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Department of Foreign Affairs.

Receiving the diplomat in New Delhi on June 17, D.Raja expressed pleasure at the rapid development and foreign economic achievements of Vietnam under the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s leadership, while acknowledging the sound growth of Vietnam-India relations.

Stressing that the CPV and CPI as well as the two countries' people have always been close friends, the leader affirmed his readiness to do everything necessary to further develop the relations between the two parties and countries, including exchange activities.

For his part, Hai conveyed CPV General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s regards to his host and underscored the CPV's constant appreciation for its traditional ties with the CPI.

The ambassador pledged to work with the CPI to promote relations between the two parties and two countries, for the benefit of their people and for peace, cooperation, development, and social progress in the region and the world.

At his meeting with Vijay Chauthaiwale on the same day, Hai affirmed Vietnam's wish to enhance cooperation through the party channel with the BJP, considering such relations as a crucial political foundation to further develop the two countries’ ties. He proposed stepping up exchange activities at all levels and sharing governance experiences.

Talking about the bilateral relations, Hai noted significant advancements such as 65 flights per week connecting the two countries and increasing numbers of Vietnamese and Indian companies visiting each other to implement cooperative and business activities.

Chauthaiwale noted his satisfaction with such positive development, expressing his hope to exchange plans to strengthen relations between the BJP and CPV in the near future.
