Hungary opens Consulate General in HCM City

(VOV) - On January 13, a high level Hungarian delegation, headed by Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Szijjarto Peter attended the opening of the Hungary Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the opening, Mr Peter said, “The Government of Hungary has decided to lay a new foundation for its foreign policy symbolized by its ‘Look East’ policy for which Vietnam and HCM City are pivotal.”

The foreign minister applauded HCM City’s transformation into an economic, financial and technological hub of Southeast Asia and said the opening of the office would provide a bridge to expanding cooperation and trade between the two nations.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu of the Municipal People’s Committee in turn expressed her appreciation for the opening of the office, saying she considers it a milestone in the relations between the parties.

On the occasion, Mr Peter presented the Hungarian Order of Merit-Knight's Cross to Do Van Thanh, honourable consul to HCM City, for his contribution to strengthening diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Hungary.

The Hungarian Consulate Generals’ office is located at the Lim Tower Building at No 9-11 Ton Duc Thang St of District 1 in HCM City.
